The Philippine Statistics Authority has awarded to Unisys the public-private partnership (PPP) project to design, develop and operate the second phase of its Civil Registry System Information Technology Project (CRS-ITP2) aimed at enhancing accessibility and increasing speed of service for citizens requesting official documents such as birth certificates.
Aside from maintaining and operating the existing system, Unisys will lead a PPP project to design, develop, operate and maintain the modernized system. Approved by the National Economic and Development Authority board in July 2015, the project’s transformation program includes modernizing the network infrastructure and application system using Unisys digital government expertise.
The PPP will also provide a nine-story CRS building to house a brand-new customer service facility and data center, centralizing the back office infrastructure. Unisys has engaged First Balfour to design and construct the new CRS building. It is First Balfour’s first involvement in a PPP project.
The CRS building is First Balfour’s first foray into a specialized building project with a complete construction works package. The scope of work covers civil and engineering, architectural, mechanical, electrical, sanitary and plumbing, and fire protection including fit-out works and supply of furniture and fixtures.
