First Balfour proudly celebrates a major milestone in occupational safety and health (OSH), as well as environmental management, after bringing home two distinguished honors from the MiSHA Asia Excellence Awards on OSH Principle of Prevention 2025, organized by the Malaysian Industrial Safety and Health Association (MiSHA) in Putrajaya, Malaysia.

Marking its first international recognition in OSH and environmental performance, the company received both the MiSHA ASIA Diamond Award on OSH Principle of Prevention 2025 and the MiSHA ASIA Excellence Award on Environmental Management 2025.

(L-R) Environmental Coordinator Jasmin Jill Dumasig, Corporate OSH Head Emil Estrabo, and OSH Audit and Assurance Supervisor Seannekate Amilbahar received First Balfour’s awards at the MiSHA Asia Excellence Awards on OSH Principle of Prevention 2025 at Putrajaya, Malaysia.

Founded in Malaysia, MiSHA is a non-governmental organization dedicated to advancing occupational safety and health by supporting companies and professionals in adopting best practices and improving workplace conditions. Its Asia Excellence Awards recognize organizations in Asia that demonstrate excellence in safety and health risk management, including performance aligned with internationally accepted prevention principles.

MiSHA ASIA Diamond Award on OSH Principle of Prevention 2025, First Balfour’s recognition in occupational safety and health, is one of the most highly regarded honors in the MiSHA Asia Excellence Awards. Assessors evaluated the company across several areas, including risk management, control measures, OSH management systems, leadership and compliance, personnel development, and evaluation processes. By demonstrating the effectiveness and impact of its OSH programs, First Balfour secured the prestigious Diamond Award.

Meanwhile, the MiSHA ASIA Excellence Award on Environmental Management 2025 honors organizations that demonstrate strong environmental stewardship and sustainable operational practices. First Balfour’s recognition underscores its commitment to sustainability and its continuous efforts to improve environmental performance across its operations.

Among the Philippine companies recognized in the 2025 MiSHA Asia Excellence Awards are Fluor and HSBC Philippines, highlighting the growing recognition of Filipino organizations in Asia for excellence in environment, safety and health.

Those representing First Balfour at the MiSHA Asia Excellence Awards express pride and inspiration at the recognition. Corporate OSH Head Emil Estrabo says, “Our team’s commitment to world-class safety and environmental excellence delivered tangible impact on our people and operations, making this international recognition possible.” OSH Audit and Assurance Supervisor Seannekate Amilbahar adds, “It was an experience that motivated us even more to keep raising the bar in OSH and to strive for greater impact, both locally and internationally.” Meanwhile, Environmental Coordinator Jasmin Jill Dumasig notes, “Being recognized alongside international organizations at MiSHA Malaysia reflects our mission to drive meaningful environmental action toward a decarbonized and regenerative future.”

On these achievements, Managing Director for Construction Operations Rey Villar shares, “Congratulations to all of us at First Balfour! This achievement is a testament to how we put the safety and health of our people, and sustainability in our operations, at the very top of our priorities. The award reflects our dedication to protecting our workforce while caring for our planet. Let us continue driving excellence and sharing our best practices with our partners and stakeholders.”

From the outset, First Balfour has placed the safety and well-being of its people at the forefront while integrating sustainable practices across its operations, evident in its more than 20 years of ISO 14001 certification for environmental management system and ISO 45001 certification for occupational health and safety management system.
