TANAUAN CITY, BATANGAS—First Balfour has turned over multiple construction projects to the First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) Construction Management Group, marking their successful completion in a turnover ceremony held last 16 February 2024.
These engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects include a PhP 54-million access ramp, cul-de-sac, and guard house construction project for Canon, one of FPIP’s locators; a PhP 45-million contract on the park’s telecommunications (telco) backbone network; and a PhP 20-million site development project for an existing lot. Awarded through separate contracts in 2023, the projects are aimed at enhancing the overall infrastructure and functionality of select areas inside FPIP. Collectively, these initiatives demonstrate its commitment to the promotion of a thriving industrial ecosystem within the park.
Gracing the turnover ceremony was FPIP Senior Vice President Alex Roque who proudly highlighted the telco project, stating that FPIP is now the first industrial park to have its own centralized fiber optic network called a Meet Me Room (pictured below). It is a physical location where multiple telco and network service providers can interconnect their equipment to facilitate connectivity. “This is the first industrial park to have its own ‘meet me room’ (MMR) to be operated by the park itself. Telco providers will just need to connect their lines to our MMR and connectivity will automatically go to our individual locators.”
Engr. Roque also emphasized the importance for both First Balfour and FPIP teams to draw lessons from project challenges and commended the team for their exceptional cooperation and prompt accommodation of client concerns.
Managed simultaneously by Project Manager Paolo Sapinoso and his team of 20, the First Balfour project management team (PMT) in FPIP encountered challenges in design, resource mobilization, and even weather conditions which had an impact on their day-to-day operations. By establishing strong client relationships, open communication with their stakeholders, and teamwork, the PMT has been able to deliver safely, with quality, and to FPIP’s satisfaction. In fact, this commitment had earned for the Canon team a special recognition in the 2023 Quality Performance Awards
