“This event marks the start of civil works at the site for the construction of CCLEX, an 8.5 kilometers toll bridge and road project,” shares Cebu Cordova Link Expressway Corp. (CCLEC) President and General Manager Allan Alfon. CCLEC, a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation, will undertake the project in partnership with the local governments of Cebu City and Cordova under a Public-Private Partnership arrangement.
Spanning eight kilometers from the mouth of the Guadalupe River to Shell Island and then Cordova, the project will connect mainland Cebu to the Municipality of Cordova and is expected to serve at least 40,000 vehicles daily. It also includes the construction of a toll plaza and causeway and is set to be completed in 2021.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange in December 2017, the notice of award for the design and build contract for the bridge had been issued to CLJV. CLJV is the joint venture company of Acciona Construccion, First Balfour, and DMCI.
