The construction of the 3.6 MW Mindanao 3 (M3) Binary Power Plant in Kidapawan City commenced in early 2021. In just 13 months, the plant has been completed and has gone into full operation.
The project is part of EDC’s target to put up binary plants in each of its geothermal sites in Leyte, Negros Oriental, Sorsogon-Albay, and North Cotabato. Inaugurated on April 27, 2022, the M3 Binary Plant is now fully operational boosting the overall power generation capacity of the existing 103 MW Mindanao 1 and 2 Geothermal Power Plants. It not only contributes reliable power to the Mindanao region but also avoids around 25,000 tonnes of equivalent carbon dioxide each year through the use of clean geothermal energy.
Capacity: 3.6MW
