First Balfour was the on-shore engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for the 6.8 MW Burgos Solar Farm, a project which put Ilocos Norte at the forefront of renewable energy initiatives being the first location in the world to host a combined solar and wind farm.
Located on a 5.5 hectare site at Brgy. Saoit, the project included the installation of 13,420 photovoltaic modules/panels, their screw piles and mounting structures, 61 inverters, and the construction of a Control Building. First Balfour also provided the interconnection to the Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative (INEC) via a distribution line to the grid under a separate contract. This interconnection project included the development of a 1.6-kilometer, 13.2-kilovolt distribution line, distribution cables, concrete poles, and other related facilities.
Power was generated two weeks ahead of schedule and the whole project completed on time.
