Following the recent award of FPIP Plaza, First Balfour has secured a new bundle of projects from First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) comprising three water infrastructure facilities. This latest win provides a significant boost to First Balfour’s water projects portfolio.

The biggest of these projects is a 20 MLD (million liters per day) river water treatment facility awarded by FPIP Utilities, Inc. (FUI), an FPIP subsidiary that provides end-to-end water and wastewater services to the industrial park. Once operational, the facility will collect and treat water from the San Juan River, one of the major tributaries of Laguna de Bay that runs through FPIP, to increase water supply and serve as a more sustainable water source than existing wells.

The project involves site development and the design-and-build of the intake structure, raw water conveyance system, the main water treatment facility, ancillary buildings, as well as the facility’s testing and process proving. The project will be led by Project Manager (PM) Noel Nicdao.

Meanwhile, the other two water projects to be led by PM Paolo Sapinoso will include a water distribution system improvement for FPIP’s sister company, First Industrial Township (FIT), and a sewer flow diversion project. The water distribution system project involves the design and construction of a new deep well, pipeline, and pump station infrastructure to treat and distribute additional water for the park. Meanwhile, the sewer flow diversion project aims to streamline and improve the sewerage system of the park by installing a new 1.5-kilometer sewer line.

Construction officially began with a groundbreaking ceremony held onsite on 19 September 2024. In his message, FPIP Chief Commercial Officer and First Balfour Deputy Chief Operating Officer Jose Valentin A. Pantangco, Jr., shared that, “To continue sustaining [operations] at the park, a water sustainability plan was created with its key component being the use of river water. Once operational, the project will significantly reduce our dependence on groundwater.”

As it has done over the years through the completion of several reservoir and water conveyance projects in the metro, First Balfour leverages on its engineering and construction expertise in infrastructure that address water reliability. The new projects are in keeping with First Balfour’s commitment to supporting FPIP in achieving its goal of providing reliable water supply and wastewater treatment facilities for its industry-leading locators.
