First Balfour employees raised funds through cash donations and sick leave conversions in support of ABS-CBN’s Pantawid ng Pag-Ibig program. As of this writing, donations are already over PhP 212,000. Launched two weeks ago, the program aims to assist local government units (LGUs) in providing basic necessities to poor families who were greatly affected by the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
Along with donations and pledges from other private companies and individuals, the funds raised will be used to purchase food and daily needs of families with members who have lost their sources of income or livelihood because of ECQ. Among these include rice, canned goods, noodles, biscuits, vitamins, as well as toiletries like shampoo, soap, and detergent.
“The reality is that a lot of people are having it much worse than we are; and it’s heartbreaking. I am very lucky to be living in a safe home with food on the table every day and this is my way of sharing, in hopes that it can lift their spirits even for just a little bit,” shares T1 Rentals Procurement Specialist Joel Dimayuga who was among those with the most number of sick leave conversions donated. Overhead Lines Section Head Antonio Legaspi, one of the executives with the biggest cash donations, also shared “In times of crisis, when the whole nation is involved, kailangan ng iba nating kababayan ang ating tulong.”
T1 Rentals, First Balfour’s Plant and Equipment Division, also deployed boom trucks as logistics support for the distribution of these relief goods to cities in Metro Manila. Sacks were loaded at a warehouse in Caloocan for distribution to LGUs including San Juan, Mandaluyong, Malabon, Manila, and Quezon City.
According to T1 Rentals Deputy Division Head Humprey Levi Dy, “I am pleased to see our equipment being put to good use, by providing the much needed logistical support and delivering relief goods to our local government units, who will in turn distribute it to families in need. With this, our team at T1 Rentals will continue to find ways and means to do our part in helping the Filipino people get through this.”
As ABS-CBN continues to call on the public and the private sector for donations in the hopes of reaching localities outside Metro Manila, the call for donation will continue for First Balfour until April 15.
