Engr. John F. Peralta, Deputy Sector Head for Geothermal Projects, has successfully completed the Leadership and Management Development Program (LMDP) of the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) last 22 March 2025. Organized by First Philippine HoldingsFirst Gen (FPH-FGen), the program was designed by FPH-FGen in collaboration with AIM’s School of Executive Education and Lifelong Learning (AIM-SEELL) to equip the future leaders of the conglomerate with critical skills in strategy, business innovation, and transformation.

John (fourth from left) is joined by (L-R) FPH-FGen HR Head Anna Karina Gerochi, First Balfour CEO Anthony Fernandez, his wife Marmie Peralta, EDC HR Head Ma. Cecilia Batalla, Head of AIM-SEELL Prof. Alberto Mateo, Jr., and First Gen Talent Development Head Redolfo Plopinio

The LMDP, also touted as a mini-MBA, provides robust learning content with its combined thinking suite, strategy series, and leadership skills enablers. The course, delivered through a hybrid method over six months starting September 2024, required three specific outputs from participants: business innovation, strategy simulation, and transformative experience through executive coaching.

When asked how the LMDP influenced his leadership approach, John shares, “While decision making has always been part of my role as a Project Manager, the program gave me fresh insights and a more structured way of approaching challenges—even in areas where I thought I was already familiar with.” He says he now takes a broader view when it comes to decision-making, considering long-term implications and how different factors within the organization connect to strategic goals. This shift has made him more intentional in his leadership, adapting his approach to meet his team’s needs and challenges.

On John’s nomination as participant to the LMDP, Head of HR Caloy Salonga shares, “This recent program he completed was intended to broaden his perspective from operations management to total business and strategic management. I have no doubt that with further honing of skills, John will continue to be a key player in leading First Balfour’s growth in the future.”

As this run of the LMDP is exclusive to the conglomerate, John now joins a select group of professionals poised for expanded leadership roles within the Group—a timely development as First Balfour is similarly undergoing a significant transition.
