The newest addition to our growing fleet of cranes is the LTM 1160-5.1 Liebherr All-terrain mobile crane. Having a 160-ton capacity, the mobile crane is now one of the Plant & Equipment Division’s biggest mobile cranes.
The LTM 1160-5.1 offers a wide range of upgrades from its predecessor. It is very compact and maneuverable compared to the other cranes of its kind. It has a modern drive concept that is powered by a 6 cylinder turbo-charged diesel engine that produces 370kW/503hp and is backed-up by an enhanced braking system. It is the first time that Liebherr used air disc brakes in a mobile crane. Its variable steering concept with active rear wheel steering makes this crane highly agile and stable. The LTM 1160-5.1 crane side is powered by a 4 cylinder turbo-charged engine that instantaneously produces 145kW/197hp with a five axial piston variable displacement hydraulic system. Set-up is optimized that ballasting is done in a matter of minutes. Lifting loads are very precise and safe with the 6-section, 62m long telescopic boom with an option for additional 12.2-22m added reach with its double folding jib.
Along with its features, its operation is powered by Liebherr Computed Controlling (LICCON) which combines efficiency and safety into the cranes operation. Embedded into the operator’s cab, LICCON is a program which has several applications namely, a safe load indicator that can identify the weight being lifted, a telescoping program which visualizes the extension of the hydraulic boom, a test system which simplifies the identification of errors in the crane, and a work area limiting system which limits and constraints crane movement suitable for the work planner and the work being performed.
Liebherr is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of construction machines. Founded in 1949, it established the concept of the all-terrain mobile crane and since then has offered the world with the widest range of products in this segment. The company develops and builds mobile cranes in its two production plants in Germany and Austria. The LTM 1160-5.1 was supplied by its sales and service branch in Singapore.
