First Balfour employees and their family and friends were all smiles as they went on a 3 kilometer hike for this year’s tree planting activity. Held in the Mt. Makiling Forest Reserve in Sto. Tomas, Batangas, the event drew more than a hundred participants last August 17.
Organized together with the UPLB Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystem and the First Balfour Union headed by FB-Kilusan President Jayson Calixihan, 500 seedlings were planted to help raise awareness and combat deforestation. “Nakakapagod ang umakyat ng bundok but this is indeed worthwhile kasi pagkatapos mo magtanim, you can say that in this little way you were able to help save Mother Nature,” shares fellow participant Emelia Ros.
