The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Blood Services awarded First Balfour with a Scroll of Honor during its Blood Donors Recognition Ceremony last August 6 at the Manila Hotel. Human Resources (HR) – Employee Relations’ Anchel Cruz, who has been spearheading First Balfour’s annual bloodletting activity since 2003, and Environment, Safety and Health’s (ESH) Mehlani Morada received the plaque from PRC Governor Rosalind Wee (leftmost in photo).
The Scroll of Honor is one of the national awards given to honor the spirit of volunteerism among PRC’s blood donors and institutional partners. Other awards include Blood Samaritan Award, Testimonial Plaque, Blood Services Platinum Award, Diploma of Service, and Certificate of Appreciation. Fellow Lopez Group company First Philippine Realty Corporation was among the recipients of the Diploma of Service. The length of partnership with PRC and quantity of blood collection are some of the measures considered in choosing the awardees.
First Balfour’s Annual Blood Donation Drive has been helping save lives since its inception in 2003. To date, records show over a thousand successful donors from First Balfour employees, partners, and clients. The Benpres Building in Ortigas, Pasig City has been its home for nine years. Its 10th anniversary, themed “Be Someone’s Superhero: Save Lives By Donating Blood”, was held for the first time in First Balfour’s new corporate facility in Sucat, Paranaque City in March 2012. Since then, the organizers – the HR and ESH Departments – have extended its reach by holding blood donation drives in project sites outside Metro Manila.
“With the remarkable experience and amount of positive feedback each blood donation drive brings, First Balfour is even more aspired to bring this CSR initiative to more places to be able to help more people,” Cruz shares. In line with one of its core values – commitment to people, shareholder, and community – First Balfour vows to continue dedicating its core CSR efforts to helping save more lives.
